Casa Lapostolle, Rapel Valley (Chile) Carménère “Casa” 2010

($12, Moët Hennessey USA):  Founded in part by the Marnier Lapostolle family (of Grand Marnier fame) Casa Lapostolle was one of the early Franco-Chilean endeavors.  They remain one of Chile’s leading producers.  They produce at least three tiers of wine, with their “Casa” label falling the in middle.  Woodsy herbal notes juxtaposed to ripe fruit tones make this Carménère an intriguing wine.  Suave tannins make it easy to enjoy now while providing sufficient structure to prevent jamminess. 88 Michael Apstein Apr 3, 2012
